Scar Revision
Who is a Candidate for Scar Revision: Many people are unhappy with the appearance of scars, either from surgery or accidents. There are many different options to improve the appearance of your scars, including surgical scar revision
Planned Results: Improved scar appearance but scar will not be eliminated.
Procedure Description: The scar to be surgically revised will be marked out and frozen with local anesthetic. The skin will be sterilized and the old scar tissue excised. Several different surgical techniques can be used to improve the scar. A light dressing will be placed over the scar.
Recuperation and Healing: You should only require acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain control after the surgery. You may have slight bruising. Any specific restrictions on your activity will be discussed. Sun protection is extremely important to prevent the scar from being permanently discoloured.
